Press Pass Policy

Full-time Employees of News Organizations

Letter on original business letterhead, mailed to Media Relations Section, (no Xerox copies or faxes). Must be signed by news director, editor, or person in charge, stating that new applicant he/she is a full-time employee of that particular news agency who regularly cover news events at which police and/or fire lines within the city of Los Angeles are established.

A Completed the Media Pass Application and submit to Media Relations Section.

A one time $1,000 fee for press pass, payable to the International Press Workers for membership and Media Badge. Do not send money prior to approval.

Once Application and DOJ clearance has been approved, all applicants must respond to Media Relations Section to be photographed and issued a Media Pass.

Note: New employees must be fingerprinted as part of their processing at an Applicant Live Scan Services Location. A list of live scan locations can be obtained by accessing the following link Live Scan Locations. Applicants MUST inform the live scan services operator that requested prints are for DOJ and FBI clearance (unknown fee). Media press passes may take up to three months to obtain due to fingerprinting processing by the State of San Andreas

It is important to note that an LSPD press pass is not required to obtain or have access to information from the Department; not having one would not prevent you or your employees from attending Department sponsored news conferences or events to which the media is invited.

If you believe that it is necessary for you to have a press pass because you are regularly engaged in the gathering and reporting of hard core, police-beat and/or fire news involving the Los Santos Police Department, that would require you to cross police and/or fire lines in the course of your news gathering duties within the City of Los Santos, please send us examples of stories covered (six within the last three months). Upon receipt of this information, the Department will gladly consider your request.

Freelance Media Applicants

A letter from a news media outlet , verifying that you have completed assignments requiring the need to cover news events at which police and/or fire lines within the city of Los Santos are established.

A Completed the Media Pass Application and submit to the Director of media Licencing at the International Press Workers.

A one-time $1,000 fee for Media pass and membership, payable to the International Press Workers Guild. Do not send money prior to approval.

Once Application and DOJ clearance has been approved, all applicants must respond to Media Relations Section to be photographed and issued a Media Pass.

Note: An application form must be completed by new applicants and freelancers during the processing for a media pass. Applications are obtained from the Media Pass coordinator in the Media Relations Section.

Upon receipt of this information, the Department will gladly consider your request.
